To pursue a career in music, one must be dedicated, hard-working and driven.
To do this as a euphonium player, add to that list optimistic and a little crazy.
It doesn’t take a long conversation with Danny Helseth to know that he is a little of all of those things.
Danny’s educational training has given him the chance to work with some incredible teachers and mentors.
His teachers at Central Washington University (BMus Ed, 1999) include Larry Gookin and Tom Gause.
At the University of North Texas (MM, Performance, 2002) Danny studied with Dr. Brian Bowman, and Vern Kagarice.
As a Fulbright Scholar in the UK, Danny worked with Steven Mead while attending the Royal Northern College of Music (PgDip, Performance, 2002).
A former member of the United States Air Force Band in Washington D.C., Danny was quickly recognized as an energetic and engaging soloist, featured several times with the band including the spring 2004 national tour.
Helseth performed as a chamber musician and clinician at universities all over the US as a member of the Tower Brass Quintet.
Helseth is now a freelance musician living in Seattle, WA.
With the acclaimed release of his first solo CD, “Snapshots!”, Danny is quickly establishing himself as an energetic and engaging soloist and clinician performing recitals, giving master classes and clinics.
Helseth has recently been named Principal Conductor of Brass Band Northwest in Bellevue, WA.
In his spare time, Danny enjoys running, biking, and chasing the Northwest's elusive native trout population with a fly rod.
Danny is a Besson Performing Artist, playing a Besson Prestige 2051, and would like to thank Buffet Crampon USA, INC for their support.
