
A native of the Northwest, Jason Gilliam holds the Bachelor of
Music and Master of Arts in teaching degrees from the University of
Puget Sound. Prior to college, Gilliam held the principal euphonium
chair at the prestigious Interlochen Music Camp and was the
Washington State Solo Competition winner for three years
(1989-1991).
More recently, he has been a featured guest artist with the
University of Puget Sound Tuba Ensemble and has performed with the
Tacoma Symphony. He most recently appeared as a guest artist at the
University of Idaho.Jason is a strong proponent for the furthering
of the public's knowledge of the versatile and beautiful qualities
of the euphonium. He has been a soloist with the University of
Puget Sound Wind Ensemble, Washington Wind Symphony, Tacoma Concert
Band, and the Northshore Concert Band in Evanston, Illinois. In
1999, he was a featured clinician for the Harvey Phillips Northwest
Big Brass Bash in Pullman, Washington. Currently, Jason
is a third grade school teacher in the Eatonville School
District.
