John Huenink, President
Emeritus of the Oregon Tuba Association, came to be a tubist by
progression. He progressed from being Cub Scout bugle boy to grade
school trumpeter to high school treble clef euphonium player and
college tuba player. After college, he took a twenty year rest from
playing and then resumed about twenty years ago. Those that have
heard him play say Its a good thing that he has another
job.
John is a Presbyterian Minister. After 30 years in pastoral
ministry, he is now serving as a denominational executive based in
Portland, Oregon.
A founding member of The Oregon Tuba Ensemble and Oregon
Liturgical Tuba Ensemble, he now plays only occasionally, to the
delight of many. He continues to serve as mouthpiece
for tuba concerts, telling the same old tubajokes over and over to
the delight of many.
He is past Secretary for the HPNWBBb and hosted the event in
Eugene in 1995 and 1996.
