Torrey Lawrence joined the faculty of the
Lionel Hampton School of Music at the University of Idaho as
Assistant Professor of Music in the Fall of 1998. His teaching
duties include the tuba/euphonium studio, Vandal Marching Band,
Concert Band, Brass Instrument Techniques, and Marching Band
Rehearsal Techniques. He is also responsible for all athletic pep
bands and advises brass performance majors.
Mr. Lawrence received a Bachelor of Music degree and Master of
Music degree from Northwestern University (Evanston, Illinois)
where he studied tuba with Rex Martin. Prior to joining the UI
faculty in 1998, he was a member of the music faculty of Clarke
College (Dubuque, Iowa) and held positions of Operations Manager
and Executive Director of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra.
Torrey Lawrence is currently a member of the Idaho Brass Quintet
and is Principal Tuba in the Washington Idaho Symphony Orchestra.
He performed regularly with the Dubuque (IA) and Clinton (IA)
Symphony Orchestras and was a featured soloist with the Clinton
Symphony in 1998.
He is a member of ITEA, College Band Directors National
Association, National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha, and Pi Kappa
Lambda.
